TRA2016 (European Transport Research Conference) took place in Warsaw, Poland from 18-21 April 2016. The TRA is a biennial event offering a unique opportunity for researchers, representatives from the industry, decision-makers and opinion leaders from all countries around Europe and the world to meet and discuss the transport research agenda at global, European and national levels. It was attended by 2.200 participants over 4 days.
The conference covered all modes of surface transport: road, rail and waterborne as well as airports and cooperation between these modes.
Trans-national cooperation across Europe and beyond is necessary to effectively tackle the challenges that lie ahead within transport such as energy-efficiency, emissions, congestion, affordability, and safety.
For SMART-RAIL, the TRA was yet another good opportunity to raise awareness amongst the European Transport Research Community on our project and its objectives: more than 200 project flyers were distributed and many stakeholders could be personally addressed.
Smart-Rail was well represented with the attendance of partners TNO, Uniresearch, Panteia, Railistics, ZLC and TOI.
